Award-winning chefs Mark Reinfeld and Jennifer Murray (authors of The 30-Minute Vegan) have created a new recipe book that will inspire you to cook. The 150 vegan recipes included in this book were inspired by Mark and Jennifer’s dining experiences and travels. The first four chapters focus on recipes from India, Thailand, China and Japan, while the last chapter - entitled Asian Fusion - contains recipes from Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Tibet, Afghanistan and Nepal.
Whether you chose a soup, salad, appetizer, main entrée or dessert, most recipes in this new book can be completed in 30 minutes. Symbols used throughout the book indicate raw food items, longer-to-prepare recipes and recipe variations. Decorative boxes feature chef tips and tricks, ingredient information, folklore and traditions. Recipes such as Tofu in Tomato Cream Sauce or Cucumber Salad with Peanuts and Chile can be found by either using the table of contents or the alphabetical index. A metric conversion chart, a glossary and a bibliography of websites and books are included in the back of this book. There are sixteen pages of color photographs in the book, but they are located in the middle rather than alongside their recipe.
This is an attractive book, with lots of vegan-related information, but more color and photographs would increase the appeal. The 30-Minute Vegan's Taste of the East will be useful for those wanting to try new flavors or improve their health through diet.
