As the title of this book in the excellent Quick Pro Guides Series published by Hal Leonard suggests, this is a guide in assisting the producer and engineer to maneuver swiftly and efficiently while working with Digital Performer in a variety of settings.
The reader should already have a simple understanding of what is required to create a session file in the Digital Performance software. With that knowledge already in place, the reader will find everything he/she needs to know about the world of DP.
Chapters cover every facet of sound design, beginning with the required tools (computer; monitors; MIDI and Video Interfaces, et al) and
spanning all the way to how to utilize DP in live performance, film scoring, post-production and music production.
The accompanying DVD features examples of DP files as well as instructional movies. These various files and movies are described in the appendix of the book.
After reading Digital Performer for Engineers and Producers (you could also be an artist doing everything yourself), you'll have every tool you need to navigate the digital world of DP. All you need now is a little imagination.
