Is The Mango Season autobiographical? Semi-autobiographical? The Mango Season is neither autobiographical nor semi-autobiographical. I have a very small family and they are not very conservative. I wrote The Mango Season based on experiences of friends and people I know who have entered inter-caste, inter-racial and inter-religious marriages. Do you like mangoes? Favorite fruit? Absolutely! Mangoes have always been a special favorite. The concept of HAPPINESS is a concept my sister and I came up with when we were young. In real life, did you marry a foreigner? Yes. My husband is from Denmark and we’ve been married five years now. Future plans, projects, etc.? I have just put the finishing touches on my third novel, Serving Crazy with Curry that comes out in fall 2004 from Ballantine Books. This is the story of four women spanning three generations and starts with the attempted suicide of one of the granddaughters.
